 Chapter 1

A Championship Curse

In the land of lakes begins this tale,

Of heroes, brave, whose spirits sail.

The 12th Fan Army, of legend born,

Seeks to lift a curse of fan forlorn.

A different quest for Mikey Wolfgrave unfolds in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, where the Mississippi meanders its way through a metropolitan area of 3-million people that hums with life. Not far from the river in Minneapolis, sits the U.S.S. Bank Stadium. Built like a futuristic Viking ship for 80,000, the stadium looks ready to sail to championship-land.

Mikey Wolfgrave is the embodiment of a die-hard Vikings fan. This is guy bleeds purple and gold. But Wolfgrave isn’t just any fan; he is a problem solver, a strategist, a man known for cracking cases that stumped even the finest minds. He could solve the unsolvable.

In 2023, the Minnesota Vikings hold the distinction in pro-sports (football, basketball, baseball, hockey) for never having won a championship in the modern Super Bowl era.

The Vikings, for all their regular season prowess in past seasons, were dogged by a Super Bowl “curse” that seemed to have them in a chokehold. Despite their best efforts, the biggest trophy in football had remained a distant dream, a phantom just out of reach. The drought had spanned since the inception of the Super Bowl, and the weight of unfulfilled hopes was a crushing burden on the players and the fans.

The curse was an enigma, a mystery that had puzzled and vexed the best minds in the sport. Theories were spun, debates were had, yet the curse loomed large, leaving a city starved for a championship. It was as if the football gods themselves had a vendetta against the Vikings, casting a long, inescapable shadow over them.

Enter Wolfgrave, a wildcard, a ray of hope in a sea of despair. This is a man who dares to stare down fate, to challenge the superstitions that had held his beloved team hostage. This is a chronicle of how Wolfgrave and his team, along with the Minnesota Vikings’ “12th Fan Army,” take on a seemingly impossible task and embark on a wild ride to break the curse that had shackled the Vikings for too long.

This tale bears witness to the highs, the lows, the victories, and the unshakeable connection between a city, fans, and their local football team. Secrets will be unearthed on what has plagued the Minnesota Vikings for generations and discover how The 12th Fan Army’s unyielding love for their local team sparks a revolution that may forever change the fate of the franchise.

Chapter 2

Challenge Accepted

With resolve as firm as constellations cast,

Heroes of different worlds take on a haunted past.

With words and waves, they drum a fight,

To bring the team to top light.

In the heart of Minneapolis, where the bitter cold of winter often casts a shadow over the city’s spirits, the arrival of Mikey Wolfgrave signaled a new dawn for the Minnesota Vikings. Mikey had long been a figure of fascination to his Viking-fan friends, a man who wore his passion for the team like a badge of honor.

However, it was the day he decided to take on the daunting challenge of breaking the championship curse that would forever alter the course of his life.

Mikey’s journey to becoming an unofficial consultant for the Vikings began with an audacious declaration, made one fateful evening while he was enjoying a hoppy-beverage with friends at his favorite Vikings bar, “Off the Rails Saloon.”

As the conversation revolved around the team’s persistent Super Bowl struggles, Mikey, fueled by a mixture of inspiration, frustration, determination, and perhaps a touch of liquid courage, announced, “I can solve this curse. I can break it.”

His friends exchanged skeptical glances, and the patrons around him stared at him like he was crazy.

“Sure buddy,” said one old time fan that witnessed too many emotionally draining defeats. “What ever you say.”

But for Mikey, the die was cast. He had made his decision, and there was no turning back once he announced his intentions.

Mikey’s approach to problem-solving was unique, to say the least. He didn’t rely on statistical analysis or traditional methods of football strategy. What he felt the team needed was a combination of psychology, philosophy, sociology, and all the team-spirit a community could muster.

His first step was to immerse himself in the history and folklore of the Minnesota Vikings. He devoured books, interviewed retired players, and listened intently to the stories passed down through generations of fans. He believed that the key to breaking the curse lay hidden within the collective memory of the franchise and fans, waiting to be unearthed.

Fueled by a determination as fierce as a Minnesota winter, Mikey set out to take the bull by the horns, squaring off against the daunting task of breaking the Vikings’ notorious curse.

His weapon of choice? Words – simple, powerful, and resonant.

He delves into books, turning pages filled with wisdom, scouring for insights into the curse. He takes to social media, stirring up a storm, rallying the troops, and brainstorming strategies to break the jinx.

One of Mikey’s message to the team is simple yet profound:

“Acknowledge a current problem, but don’t let it define your future.”

What he meant was that you need to take stock on what holds you back in order to fix it. However, over-dwelling on a negative past can get in the way of a positive future.

His out-of-the-box approach to problem-solving, far removed from the playbook tactics, catches the attention of the heavy hitters in the management and the players on the field.

Mikey’s personal challenge would soon be accepted, not just by him, but by the entire 12th Fan Army. The gears of change were set in motion. Battle lines are drawn. The stage set. A war against a sports-curse had been declared.

Chapter 3

Curse Unveiled

In history’s shadows, a mind dives,

Seeking the truth in the archives.

A player scorned, a curse bestowed,

Is this the origin of the Viking woes?

Mikey’s quest to unravel the mysteries of the Minnesota Vikings’ championship curse leads him down a path riddled with legends, myths, and stories that border on the extraordinary.

His journey takes him to the dusty archives of the Vikings’ historical records, found at the Minneapolis public library. He pores over old newspaper clippings, player interviews, and fan testimonies.

As he combs through the paperwork of time, one name consistently emerges as a central figure in the curse’s origins: a disgruntled former player from the 1970s, known as “Mad” Marty McGregor.

Mad Marty, as the stories went, was a legendary player for the Vikings during the fateful decade when the curse seemed to take root. A player whose passion for the game was matched only by his fierce temper.

Mad Marty had left the team under bitter circumstances, leaving behind a legacy of unfulfilled promises and dashed hopes. It was rumored that, in the throes of his disappointment, he had uttered a curse on the organization to haunt the Vikings for generations.

Mad Marty’s ex-wife was also an outspoken fan of the occult. Further research reveals that Mad Marty’s ex-wife was part of a consortium of witches who were also said to be fervent fans of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, the Vikings’ divisional arch-rivals.

These witches, it was believed, had cast a malevolent spell upon the Vikings, and also the Detroit Lions, fueled by their loyalty to their team.

His research would also discover the curse’s origins were far from limited to disgruntled players and rival witches. A librarian at the Minneapolis library emails Mikey an article from www.whenesota.com. The author, Dan, had done substantial research on the curse in 2020.

Wolfgrave decides to call the author to see what he thinks is the source of the curse.

Wolfgrave: “Hey, this is Mikey Wolfgrave. I just finished reading your article and I have a few questions.”

Dan: “Oh? What would you like to know?”

Wolfgrave: “Well, you mention several potential sources for the Vikings’ curse, from Bud Grant being passed over to the team’s involvement with the AFL. In your opinion, which of these do you believe is the true root of the curse?”

Dan: “That’s a great question. While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact source of a “curse,” I personally believe that the Lamar Hunt “AFL” Curse holds the most weight. The decision to abandon the AFL and join the NFL, despite being one of the circuit’s 6 charter franchises, could have potentially angered some proverbial football Gods.”

Wolfgrave: “Interesting! And do you think the Vikings’ efforts to “right the ship,” like hiring Bud Grant had any effect on the curse?”

Dan: “I believe that certainly helped, but the fact that the team has still struggled, particularly in the Super Bowl, suggests that the curse, if it exists, may still be lingering. However, it’s important to remember that sports are unpredictable and often more about the right combination of skill, strategy, and timing rather than superstitions.”

Wolfgrave: “That’s a fair point.

What about the recent passing of Bud Grant in March 2023? Could his death have lessened the strength of the curse?”

Dan: “That’s an interesting perspective. In folklore, the passing of a key figure linked to a curse can sometimes be seen as a form of closure, potentially weakening the curse’s hold. Bud Grant’s death could symbolize a turning point for the Vikings. However, only time will tell if this has any impact on the team’s fortunes.”

Wolfgrave: “I see. Thanks for your insights. I’m working on creating a strategy to finally lift this curse, and your article has provided some valuable context.”

Dan: “I’m glad to hear that, Wolfgrave. Best of luck with your efforts. I’d love to hear more about your strategy once it’s in action. The Vikings could certainly use a break from the curse!”

Wolfgrave: “I’ll keep you updated. Thanks again for your time!”

Dan: “You’re welcome! Good luck, and GO Vikings!”

Dan sends Wolfgrave an email with one other consideration: the enigmatic Kensington Runestone in Alexandria, Minnesota might also be strengthening the curse.

Some say that this artifact, inscribed by Norse explorers in the 14th century, holds its own bad juju that intertwines with the malevolent energy enveloping the metropolitan area.

Unraveling the mysteries of the curse now requires him to not only confront supernatural origins but also decipher messages etched in rock.

A veil of obscurity is gradually being lifted, shedding some light on a strange path. Wolfgrave is steadily edging towards the heart of the problem, driven by the hope of breaking the spell that has plagued the Viking community for generations.

Remaining undeterred this is a battle that will demand determination, creativity, and unwavering belief in the impossible.

Chapter 4

Championship Dream Team

A team with wisdom, strength, and lore,

Assembles to fight the curse of yore.

With mind, body, soul addressed,

The Vikings’ curse shall be suppressed.

A wicked problem can not be confronted by a single strategy or by a single individual. A multi-discipline championship “dream team” (aka anti-curse crew) is needed.

The first recruit is Dr. Allison Perry, a renowned sports psychologist with a deep understanding of the mental and emotional aspects of athletes’ performance. Her expertise in enhancing the players’ mental resilience and self-belief could prove to be an invaluable asset.

Wolfgrave: “Dr. Allison Perry, it’s good to have you on the team. Your expertise in sports psychology is highly regarded.”

Dr. Perry: “Thank you. I’m excited to be joining this unique team. I’ve seen first-hand how mental resilience and self-belief can make a significant difference in athletes’ performance.

Wolfgrave: “Indeed, Dr. Perry. Your track record speaks for itself. You’ve worked with the best of the best, from Olympic athletes to championship-winning teams. Your presence gives us hope that we can break this curse through the power of the mind.”

Dr. Perry: “Mental strength can be the missing piece of the puzzle, especially when facing seemingly insurmountable odds. We have to believe in ourselves and our abilities to overcome whatever challenges come our way.”

Wolfgrave: “I couldn’t agree more. Belief is fundamental to creating a winning culture and a fortuitous reality. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping our players the entire organization develop the mental fortitude needed to succeed. Together, we will break this curse and help the Vikings achieve greatness.”

Next on the roster is Marshall Wayne, a Minneapolis marketing guru.

Among other business, he is known locally for his national TV mounting company, TheMountingMan.TV , and for his success in international currency trading in Iraq. He is a James Bond of the marketing world.

Wayne understands the power of branding, perception, and storytelling to shape public belief.

Marshall Wayne and Wolfgrave meet to brainstorm strategy while jogging the Heritage Trail on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis.

Marshall Wayne: “First of all, I am a Packer fan. However, this challenge intrigues me.

How do you un-curse a franchise?

Marshall Wayne continues: “The curse has definitely affected the Viking fan base, the local community, and perhaps the entire state of Minnesota.

Change the narrative. Instill a strong a sense of belief in excellence.”

Wolfgrave: “Skol! It’s time to rewrite the story of the Vikings and redefine their legacy. Create a targeted marketing campaign that aims to evoke nostalgia, pride, unity, and peak performance.

Highlight the strength of the team, a passionate 12th Fan club, and the unwavering support of the entire Viking organization.”

Marshall Wayne: “Indeed. Let’s engage the fans through various channels – social media, fan events, and even collaborations with influential figures.

We need to create a movement that not only unites the current fan base but also attracts new supporters. This will require creative storytelling, interactive experiences, and innovative campaigns that resonate with the hearts of the fans.”

Wolfgrave: “Absolutely. Showcase the resilience and determination of the players and highlight their commitment towards breaking a stupid curse.

Engage the fans by celebrating their loyalty and incorporating them into the journey should further strengthen their belief in the Vikings’ ability to win a championship.

Transform beliefs into a positive force that propels a team forward.”

Completing the triumvirate of expertise is “The Red Dragon” of French Island, a spiritual advisor known for his deep connection to the Mississippi River and its metaphysical properties.

The Red Dragon’s extensive knowledge of rituals, energy cleansing, and spiritual guidance enables him to assist the Vikings in confronting the curse on a level that transcends the physical and the mental.

Wolfgrave and The Red Dragon go fishing below Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi to discuss a championship challenge.

Wolfgrave: “So, Red Dragon, how do you think the curse is affecting our team’s performance?

The Red Dragon: “Ah, Wolfgrave, the curse is a complex matter. Its influence seeps into the very fabric of the team, disrupting harmony and sowing doubt. However, fear not, for my rituals and spiritual guidance shall aid us in breaking its hold.”

Wolfgrave: “That’s reassuring to hear. How exactly do you plan to tackle the negative energy associated with the curse?”

The Red Dragon: “We shall harness the power of the Mississippi River, its currents flowing with ancient wisdom. Through cleansing ceremonies and invoking positive energy, we shall dissolve the grip of the curse and restore balance within the team.”

Wolfgrave: “Sounds fascinating. I trust your expertise, Red Dragon.

How can we align our energies as a team to overcome this curse?”

The Red Dragon: “The key lies in unity and belief, Wolfgrave.

Embrace a collective consciousness. Channel good vibes. Align energies and community support. Emerge victorious and triumph over darkness and drought.”

Wolfgrave could see that The Red Dragon’s presence would provide a bridge between the seen and the unseen, offering a holistic approach to breaking a championship curse.

Together, Wolfgrave, Dr. Perry, Marshall Wayne, and The Red Dragon formed a team that was as unconventional as it was formidable. They were united by a shared vision and challenge – to create a plan that could tackle a curse on all fronts, including the physical, mental, communal, and spiritual aspects.

This would mark the beginning of a transformative chapter in the Vikings’ history, a chapter that would redefine the boundaries of sports and belief in the pursuit of victory.

Chapter 5

Redemption Rising

A tale of underdogs in the making,

Capturing hearts and minds, the media partaking.

The Minnesota Vikings on a quest,

To clear their past and be the best.

A critical aspect of their battle plan against the championship curse came into focus: the need to reinvigorate its fan base, the passionate 12th Fan Army. Often overlooked in importance because they are not on the field or in the front office, but fans and their fandom culture can help make or break a team.

Fans are more than just spectators; they are a source of strength and a reservoir of energy that can propel a team to new heights. It is time to launch a bold PR campaign that would rebrand the Vikings as a team on a quest for redemption and infuse the 12th Fan Army with renewed positivity and hope. Wolfgrave consults the marketing guru, Marshall Wayne for answers.

The campaign, aptly titled “Redemption Rising,” aims to rekindle the fans’ faith and that they are needed to help break the curse once and for all. The dream team, with a focus on organization transformation and community unity, seeks to instill a sense of optimism and positive energy within the organization and Viking fans.

Positive energy can be contagious, radiating out to the fans who had stood by their team through thick and thin, but have strayed away from rooting for the team after being let down over the decades.

Marshall Wayne, the experienced marketing guru, teaches Wolfgrave the intricacies of the modern world of social media and radio interviews. With his vast knowledge and keen understanding of social media, Marshall Wayne helps shape “Redemption Rising” opening new avenues of communication and publicity.

Marshall Wayne emphasized the significance of social media platforms in reaching a wider audience and establishing a powerful online presence. By skillfully harnessing platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, Wolfgrave needs create a championship fan base by engaging with fans and supporters.

Going for another jog around Minneapolis, Marshall Wayne and Wolfgrave discuss media strategy to help change beliefs and fire up the 12th Fan Army.

Marshall: “There are a few key points for a successful marketing strategy. Maintain a consistent and authentic voice across all social media channels. Curate thoughtful content that strikes a balance between promotional material, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and personal moments that connect with our audience emotionally.”

Wolfgrave: “I understand, Marshall. I’ll also make sure to craft compelling captions and use hashtags strategically to enhance discoverability and engagement.”

Marshall Wayne: “Yes. But let’s not limit ourselves to just social media. Radio interviews can be a fantastic way to broaden reach. I’ll introduce you to four prominent local radio stations that can have a major impact on the Viking’s 12th Army.

Marshall Wayne: “One important thing to remember during radio interviews is active listening. Make sure you address any questions or comments thrown your way effectively.”

Wolfgrave: “I’ll definitely keep that in mind.”

Marshall Wayne: “Lastly, I want you to reach out to the Pat McAfee Show through the mail, email, and super-chats. It’s a tremendously popular sports platform, so it’s important to stand out among numerous requests. Craft a concise and well-crafted email that conveys your story and unique perspective.

Personalization and research will pay off when reaching out to the Pat McAfee Show. Good luck, and remember to make the most of every opportunity.”

Returning home after jogging with Marshall Wayne, Wolfgrave discovers an unexpected unexpected message from WTHC Radio and the Breakfast Budz. They have heard of the quest to lift the curse, possibly having to deal with Green Bay Packer witches, and they have a unique angle to do so.

They inform him of a mysterious man named Sabir Jon, who claims to possess a special herb called Wolfgreen. This herb, rumored to grow exclusively in the Hindu Kush mountains, is said to have the power to transform bad witches into good witches. Intrigued by the supernatural implications of Wolfgreen, Wolfgrave contacts Sabir Jon to send him this socially medicinal and magical plant.

Wolfgrave also takes to the airwaves and social media to connect with the fans directly, sharing his own story about facing the curse head-on. He speaks passionately about the dream team’s efforts and the belief that the organization can triumph over adversity. Mikey’s fervor is infectious, and his unwavering dedication to the Vikings strikes a chord with fans far and wide. The 12th Fan Army embraces “Redemption Rising” with open arms.

Widespread media attention follows suit. Local and national news outlets cannot ignore the infectious spirit that has taken hold of the Vikings and their fan base. The campaign’s impact extends beyond the football field, touching the hearts of those who believe in the power of redemption and new beginnings. The Vikings are no longer just a football team; they were a symbol of hope, determination, and resilience.

In the midst of this revitalized spirit, the Vikings find themselves entering games with newfound purpose and unwavering support from their fans. The energy emanating from the stadium is a testament to the success of the “Redemption Rising” campaign. It is a campaign that not only rebrands the Vikings but also rekindles a sense of optimism and belief that has been dormant for far too long. The championship curse is beginning to feel the weight of a collective spirit.

Chapter 6

The Curse Strikes Back

In victory’s wake, the curse resurfaces,

Striking down heroes, testing their purposes.

Yet, in adversity, the spirit remains,

With hardened resolve, can the Vikings’ game?

The championship curse strikes back against the efforts to remove it, resulting in the placement of Justin Jefferson, Markus Davenport, James Lynch, Oli Udoh, Garrett Bradbury, Kene Kwangwu, and Christian Darrisaw on the injured reserve and a 1-4 start to the season. This unfortunate turn of events deal a heavy blow to the team’s performance, as these key players play crucial roles in their respective positions.

The absence of Jefferson as a talented wide receiver greatly hinders the team’s passing game, while Davenport’s absence weakens the defense’s ability to stop opposing offenses. Lynch’s absence in the defensive tackle position leaves a gap in the team’s ability to defend against the run game. The offensive tackle position is also negatively impacted with Udoh and Darrisaw both on the injured reserve, making it more difficult to protect the quarterback and create running lanes for the team’s running backs.

Additionally, Bradbury’s absence at center disrupts the cohesion and communication among the offensive line. All of these injuries contribute to the team’s 1-4 start, highlighting the significant impact the championship curse has had on the season.

Perhaps the biggest injury to the team hits the starting quarter back.

Kirk Cousins (aka Kirk’O Chainz) has been on a remarkable journey of his own personal redemption and proving his critics wrong, overcoming his own Monday Night Prime Time curse and racking up impressive stats. They even achieve a pivotal win against their arch-rivals, the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, to begin a win streak after starting 1-4 as a result of the curse manifesting as fumbles.

But as fate would have it, just when everything seems to be headed in the right direction, adversity strikes the team with a relentless force. In a cruel twist of destiny, Kirk Cousins, the Vikings’ resilient quarterback and symbol of hope, suffers a season-ending injury. As he planted his foot during a pivotal play, his Achilles tendon tore, and it became clear that he would be out for the remainder of the season.

Cousins’ injury hit the team like a thunderclap. The shockwaves reverberate not only within the locker room but also among the 12th Fan Army. Doubt and despair begin to creep in, threatening to undo all the progress they have made.

Many wonder if the curse is simply too powerful, and the injury to their star quarterback seems like a devastating blow. Wolfgrave feels the weight of the situation, but he is unwavering in his determination to keep the team’s spirits high.

He doubles down his efforts to rally the players and the fan base, reminding them of the difficult journey they have embarked on, the transformation they started, and the newfound belief that has coursed through their veins. Adversity is an inherent part of any great undertaking, and this was another  moment to rise above it.

He instilled a sense of purpose and resilience in the team, emphasizing that they were on a path to redemption, and this setback would not deter them. The injury to Kirk Cousins was a setback, but it was not the end of the journey. With the curse still looming, the team’s quest for redemption would continue, driven by the indomitable spirit that had brought them this far.

Chapter 7

Organization Transformation

Through fear and doubt, all organizations tread,

But a path of hope can be 12th Fan fed.

A Vikings’ journey, with a goal to strive,

Overcoming hurdles, together we thrive.

Dr. Perry has a saying that “the greatness of a mind can transform other minds.” The minds of the dream team begin to transform the 12th Fan Army.

Midway through the season, the Vikings organization takes notice of team’s unconventional approach to victory through outside-the-organization fandom work. Principles discussed by the dream team are talked about at team meetings, in the locker room, at the secretary level, and in the front office. The curse-crews’ words of wisdom and the tools for excellence for mind, body, and soul begin to be utilized.

The Minnesota Viking organization, from the players to the paper pushers, start using recommended mental conditioning exercises such as neurolinguistic programming (NLP), Super Bowl victory visualization techniques, and community-building exercises to foster a new sense of competitiveness, and cultivate game-time championship intelligence.

Neurolinguistic programming (NLP), victory visualization techniques, and community-building exercises contribute to creating excellence for individuals and teams in several ways.

NLP involves understanding how language patterns and communication strategies shape our thoughts and actions. By utilizing NLP techniques, individuals can reframe negative thoughts, establish rapport with others, and improve communication skills. This allows individuals to develop a positive mindset and enhance their personal effectiveness, leading to improved performance both as individuals and as part of a team.

Victory visualization techniques involve mentally rehearsing successful outcomes. By visualizing achieving their goals in vivid detail, individuals can enhance their confidence and motivation. This mental rehearsal helps individuals focus on the steps required for success and enables them to overcome obstacles and setbacks. By incorporating victory visualization techniques, individuals can elevate their performance and contribute to the excellence of the team.

Community-building exercises foster a sense of belonging and connection among team members. Through activities like team-building exercises, group discussions, and shared experiences, individuals develop trust, collaboration, and mutual support. This creates a positive team culture that encourages the sharing of ideas and fosters innovation. By building a strong community within the team, individuals feel motivated and supported, leading to improved individual and team performance.

Combining these three elements—neurolinguistic programming, victory visualization techniques, and community-building exercises—creates a holistic approach to personal and team excellence. These practices enhance individuals’ mindset, boost motivation, improve communication, facilitate goal achievement, and promote a positive team culture. As a result, individuals and teams can reach their full potential, achieve excellence, and thrive within their communities.

One of the first players to experience a remarkable transformation is the new QB, Josh “Passtronaut” Dobbs. Shipped from the Arizona Cardinals on Halloween 2023, some whisper that he is an alien-human hybrid. He is picked up as a last-minute free agent to replace Kirk Cousins (out for the season with an achilles injury)

Dobbs has been a quarter back journey-man while in the NFL. He is use to being new and has an open mind with his new team. He quickly sees the value of the curse-crews’ ideas and quickly adopts a championship- redemption mindset as part of his arrival.

Only 5-days with the Vikings in Week 9, QB Josh Dobbs steps up and helps the team to a last minute victory agains the Atlanta Falcons. Dobbs wins again in his second start at home against the New Orlean Saints. He has become an important catalyst and spark for the Vikings and the 12th Fan Army.

Minnesota Viking head coach Kevin O’Connell (KOC) realizes the potential of these methods and starts incorporating them into his coaching strategies. He instills the importance of teamwork and positivity among both the players and the 12th Fan Army.

Defensive Player of the Month, Danielle Hunter, leads the league in his position, becomes a prime example of this transformation. His performance on the field elevates to new heights, as he focuses on the mental aspects of the game just as much as the physical. By using NLP and visualization techniques, Hunter is able to anticipate opponents’ moves, ultimately dominating against rival offensive lines.

At the same time, safety Harrison Smith becomes an even stronger force on the field. Utilizing these mental exercises, Smith becomes a tactical genius in reading offenses and striking where it hurts most. His interceptions and sacks increase dramatically, posing a constant threat to opposing quarterbacks.

On the offensive side of things, wide receiver Justin Jefferson heals and flourishes under this new mindset. Utilizing visualization and positive reinforcement techniques proved beneficial, enabling him to make seemingly impossible catches look easy. Though hampered by a hamstring injury in the middle of the season, Jefferson gets back to his record pace for both receiving yards and touchdowns in his young career.

As each player’s story unfolded, the Vikings and 12th Fan Army begin to experience a profound shift in the collective psyche. The curse, once a looming specter of doubt and despair, begins to lose its grip on the team’s consciousness and subconsciousness. The Viking organization finds themselves drawing strength from their unity, their shared purpose, and the belief that, together, they could conquer the curse.

Practice sessions became intense and purpose-driven, as the players channel their newfound confidence into their physical preparation. They run harder, tackle with more determination, and hone their abilities with unwavering dedication. The synergy between the mental and physical aspects of the game is palpable, and it seems that the Vikings are transforming into a team that was not only physically fit but also mentally unbreakable.

The dream team’s holistic approach unleashes a collective spirit that is greater than the sum of its parts. Player by player, story by story, the Vikings are evolving into a force to be reckoned with. The curse is no longer a shroud of despair but a challenge they are prepared to confront head-on and crush.

Chapter 8

 Confronting the Curse

A relic found, a curse confronted,

Shaman and squad, their powers united.

A new hero rises, the tide has turned,

The Vikings’ fate, no longer spurned.

The time had come to pour heart and soul into the “Redemption Rising” campaign, in order to infuse the team with a renewed sense of resilience and invigorate the fan base with optimism. A moment of reckoning was upon them. All the angles on this curse need to be attacked. Sports psychology and marketing is not enough.

An anonymous package arrives in the mail addressed to Wolfgrave. According a note in the package, it is a forgotten relic that was said to be directly associated with the curse’s origins. The relic is a weathered and ornate amulet, rumored to have been wielded by “Mad” Marty McGregor, the disgruntled former player from the 1970s. The rumor is that it holds immense power, both as a symbol of the curse’s malevolence and as a key to breaking it.

Consulting The Red Dragon, Wolfgrave learns of an ancient ritual, passed down through generations, that could potentially break the curse’s hold. The ritual requires breaking the amulet, cleansing its malevolent energy, and then wielding in a ceremony of redemption.

The Red Dragon and Wolfgrave seek out the Shaman’s hardware store on Washington Avenue, near the stadium. They had heard rumors of a local Shaman who possesses the power to cleanse ancient artifacts.

As they enter the store, they were greeted by the scent of cedar and the sight of countless tools hanging on the walls. The Shaman, named Aiyana, stands behind the counter, her eyes filled with wisdom and experience. She knows exactly why they are here.

Aiyana leads them to a back room where various ritualistic tools are neatly arranged on a wooden table. She lights incense sticks and places them around the room, creating an aura of spirituality. The Red Dragon and Wolfgrave watch in awe as Aiyana begins chanting ancient prayers, her voice vibrating with a deep resonance.

She picks up the amulet carefully, holding it up to the dim light. Aiyana can sense the negative energy emanating from it. She takes out a saws-all, its blade gleaming in the room’s soft glow. With a swift motion, she carefully disassembles the artifact, piece by piece. As the amulet is taken apart, the negative energy seemd to dissipate, leaving only a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Next, Aiyana reaches for a set of carbide drill bits. With precise movements, she carves new intricate patterns into each piece of the amulet, infusing it with positive energy. The ancient ritual combined with the modern tools creates a synergy that transforms the artifact. The Red Dragon and Wolfgrave feel a powerful positive aura surrounding it now.

After meticulously reassembling the amulet, Aiyana blesses it, by performing a final enchantment to seal its newfound energy. The artifact, once filled with negativity, now radiates with a powerful positive force.

The Red Dragon and Wolfgrave thank Aiyana for her expertise and leave the hardware store in awe of the Shaman’s abilities. They knew that their quest to cleanse the amulet had been successful, thanks to the harmonic combination of ancient rituals and modern tools in the hands of a skilled Shaman.

However, Wolfgrave is not content with just breaking an amulet. He needs to cover all possibilities including the Green Bay Packer witches, honoring Bud Grant, and making sure the Runestone’s past is in the past.

Gaining access to the heart of the Vikings’ training facility by bribing the janitorial staff, the dream team gathers the team to pay homage to the legendary Bud Grant. Reverence and determination fill the air as Wolfgrave, his voice echoing in the locker room, passionately speaks of Grant’s legacy and the values that still guide the players.

They burn some Wolfgreen to make the ceremony official.

“We stand on the shoulders of giants,” Wolfgrave declares, his words resonating with the assembled team. “Today, we honor Bud Grant, a Viking whose spirit will light our path to victory and lift us above any championship curse.”

After the ceremony, the team embarks on a mission to Wisconsin to confront The Packer Witches, notorious for their dark magic, and potentially have contributed to the curse that ensnares the Vikings.

“Why have you come, Viking fans?”

“We seek to turn your dark magic into a force for good for your own health and the health of our team. We bring an offering of Wolfgreen.”

The witches mock the idea, but the persuasiveness of Wolfgrave and the dream team is too intriguing to not try the Wolfgreen. The air crackles with electricity as the smoke fills the air. A clap of thunder indicates that their malevolent energy has turned into a positive force.

“You have broken the cycle, Viking,” she acknowledges, her eyes reflecting gratitude. “May our rivalry be one of strength and competition, not of curses and bitterness.”

Returning to Minnesota, Wolfgrave faces the task of neutralizing the curse of the Runestone of Alexandria. After hours at the Runestone Museum (runestonemuseum.org), Wolfgrave is able to gain access to the building. Close to the Runestone, he buries the transformed amulet from the hardware store in Minneapolis.

All that is left to win a championship is for the 12th Fan Army to step up their fandom culture, the Vikings to avoid fumbles and injury, the recovery of key players, and sheer will and teamwork of the Minnesota Viking players.
